Coleraine High School - The Best, Bar None
The Citizenship Foundation, in partnership with the Bar Council of Northern Ireland, held its 23nd Bar National Mock Trial Competition on Saturday 22 November at the Royal Courts of Justice.
Students from across Northern Ireland took on the roles of barristers and witnesses, with one team prosecuting and the other defending in mock criminal trials judged by senior members of the Bar and serving judges. The final of the competition will be held in the world famous Royal Courts of Justice later in the year
Speaking on behalf of the Bar Council, Gerald McAlinden QC, said:
“The Bar Council is delighted to support the Bar National Mock Trial Competition and each year, we look forward to welcoming the students to the High Court in Belfast.”
“We are committed to helping young people to understand their rights and responsibilities, and it is a privilege for the barristers and judges who volunteer their time each year to work with these young people in bringing the legal system to life. I extend my congratulations to all those who took part on Saturday, the standard was truly impressive and our best wishes go to Coleraine High School as they progress to the next stage of the competition.”
