Congratulations to Denise McBride QC and Siobhan Keegan QC on Celebrated Appointment

Today sees the historic appointment of Denise McBride QC and Siobhan Keegan QC as Northern Ireland’s first female high court judges. Both were sworn in by the Lord Chief Justice this morning at 10.30 in the Royal Courts of Justice, Belfast in the presence of their friends, families and colleagues.

Gerry McAlinden QC, Chairman of the Bar Council offered his congratulations,

“As Chairman of the Bar Council I would like to congratulate Denise McBride QC and Siobhan Keegan QC on their historic appointment to the High Court. I have worked closely with Siobhan and Denise on the Bar Council and was struck by their dedication to representing our members. Their absence will be felt but it is a well-deserved honour as they will go down in history as Northern Ireland’s first female High Court Judges.”
