Consultation Response: International Bar Association Guidelines on Legal Aid
The International Bar Association’s Bar Issues Commission (BIC) and the Access to Justice and Legal Aid Committee are collaborating on developing guidance on what works in creating a good legal aid system and as part of this held a consultation on access to legal aid in civil, administrative and family justice systems in August 2017.
The aim of this project is to produce a guidance document on the matters that governments could usefully consider when developing or reforming their legal aid systems, with particular reference to civil, administrative and family justice systems, and to offer examples of good practice from around the world.
