International Women’s Day 2023

The Bar of Northern Ireland’s Equality and Diversity Committee hosted a networking breakfast for members, their colleagues and family members to mark International Women’s Day 2023.

The event, held at the Inn of Court, saw a mix of attendees including barristers, solicitors, charity representatives and law students. Speaking at the event, Chair of the Bar of Northern Ireland, Moira Smyth KC, gave a brief overview of the history of women at the Bar, acknowledging that while the Bar is now more diverse at any point in its history, there is much still to be done to drive and achieve gender parity.

Sarah Ramsey KC, Chair of the Equality & Diversity Committee, also contributed, reflecting on “embracing equality” as the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day.
