Over £22,000 raised in aid of The Boom Foundation
After a year of fundraising events and activities the Bar of Northern Ireland Charity Committee presented a cheque for £22,500 to The Boom Foundation on behalf of members of the Bar. The Boom Foundation supports those affected by Sarcoma, a cancer of the bone and soft tissue and was the Bar of Northern Ireland’s Charity of the Year 2016/17.
The Boom Foundation was set up in memory of Philip Wilson who died from Sarcoma in 2013. Money raised by the foundation is split between assisting sarcoma patients in Northern Ireland and contributing to Sarcoma UK research and care.
At the presentation Sinead McKeagney BL said “I’m thrilled to present this donation to Leona and her team at the Boom Foundation, and I hope it makes a real difference to the lives of those affected by Sarcoma. The charity does excellent work locally in Northern Ireland and we were determined to help in any way we could.
A highlight of the year for me was the Annual Charity Ball with guest entertainer David Meade. It was such a memorable night and was one of the year’s most successful fundraising events. I would like to acknowledge the members of the legal profession and judiciary for their support and thank them for their involvement over the past year.”
