Chair contributes to discussion on ‘Diversity in Legal Representation’
The Chair of the Bar of Northern Ireland, Sarah Ramsey, joined representatives of the legal and justice community for a film screening on one of the world’s major legal figures, the US Supreme Court Associate Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The documentary about Justice Ginsburg, entitled RBG, took place at the Queen’s Film Theatre on 10 January and was followed by a panel discussion hosted by the QUB Gender Network.
The Chair was joined on the panel by Mrs Justice Keegan, Law Society President Suzanne Rice and Dr. Kathryn McNeilly, Lecturer in Law at Queen’s University Belfast, to discuss ‘Diversity in Legal Representation’.
Sarah Ramsey remarked: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to participate in this event. The film highlights Justice Ginsburg’s influence as a US Supreme Court judge whilst also paying tribute to her important earlier career as a litigator. Thankyou to the QUB Gender Network for also inviting me to discuss diversity in legal representation and the role of women as pioneers in the law. There was a shared sense of determination across the panel members to sustain and improve diversity in every branch of the local legal profession in Northern Ireland”.
