BARRISTER & SOLICITOR LOG IN

Women in the Law Lecture 03 March-Event link now available

In preparation for International Women’s Day 2022 the Bar of Northern Ireland is holding a lecture, exhibition and drinks reception on the theme of Women in the Law. The lecture will be delivered by Sarah Ramsey QC on 03 March at 5pm.

The lecture is the latest in the Legal History Project lecture series which mark the centenary of the Bar and Judiciary. It also coincides with the centenary of the first women (Frances Kyle from Belfast and Avril Deverill from Wicklow) to enter the profession.

The evolution of the role of women in the profession deserves special recognition. To mark that in 2021 the Bar Council commissioned the Justitia Project. This exhibition of portrait photographs celebrates all current and former female QCs in this jurisdiction. The exhibition will be displayed on the evening of the lecture.

The Right Honourable Dame Siobhan Keegan, Northern Ireland’s first Lady Chief Justice will open the lecture which will be live streamed. Click to join the event.
